Star-studded: With visionary director Steven Spielberg, Oscar-winning producers of Chicago, songwriters of Hairspray and more than just a few big-named stars in the mix, it’s no wonder SMASH is the word on everyone’s lips.

Songwriters Julia (Debra Messing) and Tom (Christian Borle of Legally Blonde: The Musical) are penning a musical inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe. It’s poised to become Broadway’s next hit… if they can only cast the perfect Marilyn. It all comes down to naïve and inexperienced Karen (American Idol finalist Katherine McPhee), a small-town girl with big dreams, versus jaded theater veteran Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty), in a fierce battle for the role of a lifetime.

Broadway brother: Keep your eyes peeled for teen heartthrob Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, who guest stars as a young successful actor and a potential investor in the musical. Nick is currently living out his own theater dreams as the star of the Broadway musical How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
